wow

I feel kinda okay otherwise, but my throat if anything is worse. The night was pretty hellish, I couldn't fall asleep and then when I did, kept waking up every half hour. I can't remember pain ever waking me before, let alone repeatedly. I thought about going to the emergency room, not because I feel it's life threatening, but because I don't want to wait until Monday. If I didn't already have significant unpaid medical bills, I probably would.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow... but taking a Monday off is extremely challenging, because Boss can't cover it (child care) so it would involve calling Other Store Manager and making him do it, in the midst of the transition to New Overlord. Not to mention I don't really want New Overlord's first impression to be that I'm flaky, so if I do this I BETTER really have strep throat or something equally impressive.

I'm so sorry you're in wake-you-up pain.

I have heard that gargling with aspirin dissolved in warm water offers better pain relief than other methods, because the anti-inflammatory gets directly into the affected tissues.

okay, if the pain is so bad that it's waking you up, I would call Boss *now* because strep throat is viral and unless they want to also get it, they need to let you go get antibiotics. especially since you will be useless to them anyway if you can barely get any sleep. :(

/wishes for timelords to dissolve today so it can be Monday now

Strep has a taste, though evidently I am a weirdo for being able to detect it. But yeah, it tends to feel like someone is perhaps stabbing throat tissues with a knife made of sandpaper or something, ow ow ow ow.

I assume there is no local "urgent care" that is not emergency and thus crazy expensive, but is open on a Sunday? We have one here and it does not cost more than a regular trip to the doctor. The wait is frequently a serious bitch, though.
