lazy morning
Today when I was taking a shower, I realized that the drain had gotten clogged because the water was collecting in the tub. As I was quickly and calmly finishing my shower and wondering if I had any Drano, the clog unstuck itself, which made a quite loud and deep gurgling sound under my feet and scared the crud out of me.
The plumbing in that bathroom has always been questionable... The pipes often make scary rumbling sounds if you don't hold the handle down long enough when you flush, and now the toilet is making kind of leaky noises... not like "constantly running" noises, but kinda dribbling? But wherever it's dribbling to, it's not the floor.
I do not have money to fix the plumbing!

Latest on the New Overlord front: I still haven't met him, but according to Boss he is young, and Indian, and "optimistic". Better than pessimistic I guess? Our paychecks are going through today so Old Owner's bank account can be completely out of it, and New Overlord will start paying us for tomorrow. We also had our vacation cashed out, which is kind of annoying. Other Store Manager argued that it doesn't matter because we can just save the money and take unpaid time off when we would have used the vacation hours. Technically true, but will we really save it or will we spend it?

_hannelore this year, because I will not allow it to. :P Actually it frees up more of the summer for possible vacation weeks, because we're not going to do physical inventory in the summer anymore, we'll do it one year after this one that just happened.

1. Where did your LJ handle come from?
Oh, haven't I answered this a bunch? It came from the first HP fic I wrote, which I haven't read for ages and I'm sure it was bad. It had to do with nightjars butnightjar was taken, so I picked the pauraque which is an American nightjar. I'm an American in HP fandom... har har.
2. How do you style your hair?
Badly. I let it grow until it bugs me and then I cut it myself, and do a bad job. I actually still have a fear of barbers, which is one of those common transgender phobias. "Um could you cut my hair so that I look less like the gender I appear to be right now?" Yeah no. I wear a hat a lot.
3. What is making you happy right now?
A stressful dispute among my friends being resolved.
4. What are you currently reading?
The Five Books of Moses tr. Robert Alter.
5. What material thing do you have that really needs replacing?
Nothing, really. My refrigerator might be on its last legs, but I'm not sure if it needs replacing or maybe it could just be fixed.
6. Who is your favorite co-worker?
Ones I've had at other jobs...
7. What was your first pet?
Haha, someone changed this from "what was your first car" to "what was your first cat". I'm changing it again because I've only had one cat and I talk about her too much. I believe my first pet was my dog, a springer spaniel mix who got too big and was given away. Pro parenting tip: Don't give child a puppy and then take it away.
8. Who do you want to crush right now?
Was this changed from who you have a crush on? How violent. I want to figuratively crush_hannelore in a big hug. Carebear stare!
9. What is your favorite movie theater?
The UC Theater, which I was astounded to find had an accurate, if terse, Wikipedia article. I am still sad when I pass by there and see it boarded up. What a waste.
10. What was the last thing you ate today?
I haven't eaten anything, but I did spray my throat with that evil chloraseptic sore throat stuff, which made me gag considerably.
11. What is your favorite color?
I like green.
12. Are there websites you visit daily that you wouldn't tell just anyone about?
Yes, though this seems like a pointless question, because the answer will by definition be boring.
13. What's your favorite food?
Well, it used to be oranges, but I can't have those anymore. I plan to have some on my deathbed when it doesn't matter any longer.
14. Which languages do you wish you spoke?
I wish I had kept up on my French and become fluent. Dommage. I also wish I had kept up with Klingon. Qu'vatlh!
15. What is your biggest pet peeve?
I changed this from "who is your biggest...", which seems very antisocial. I hate it when I'm ringing on the register at work and when I ask the required question "would you like a bag?" the customer tells me their life story. I seriously don't care why you do or don't want a bag. I don't care that you usually don't take one. I don't care that you're walking. I don't care that it's raining. I DON'T care about your liberal trash guilt, honestly.
16. What animal or insect do you hate/fear?
I despise ants. (I had to invent a new question because_hannelore asked something absurd. Am I doin it rite?) Though actually, when it's just one ant they're kind of cool to look at, how they move around and clean themselves. But it's NEVER just one ant.

Will Riker.
18. Where would you like your next holiday to be?
It is going to be in Vermont.
19. What is your favorite chocolate from a box of chocolates?
Oh, chocolate is also on the list of foods I can't eat anymore for health reasons. But I used to like raspberry truffles.
