beholder assignments are here!

I'm really excited about my assignment for [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder. My recipient provided so many cool suggestions and hints of where to go that I'm having a hard time narrowing down the possibilities. I think I'm going to end up writing something I probably would never have thought of otherwise, which is exactly what I hoped for and exactly why I sign up for exchanges. (And why I didn't offer characters I like, but have already written a bunch, like Peter and Slughorn.)

So yes, this is awesome. I'll try to remember this in late March when I'm pounding my head against the keyboard because my eventual fic doesn't want to behave. :P

I know what you mean. I haven't been offering Peter, either, in the last years, because I have written him quite a few times and wanted to try out something new every time I took part in the Beholder. So far I've managed to write different characters every year, which is great fun. (I also managed to have to ask Beth for an extension every year so far, because the fic was being bad-behaved and tardy.)

This is my first year participating, but I've written a fair number of pairing-centric fics with some of the eligible characters, so I was hoping for something new. I think one of the best things about this fandom is the sheer number of characters that people actually write and read, so there's so much room to stretch yourself and write something different. (I think at one time I had the idea of writing a drabble about every HP character with a speaking part, but then I realized how nuts I would be to try it.)
