Big bugs! Big Egyptian-god-looking things! Big repair bills!

The Gates opened today on the Garona server. I was too low-level (not to mention too asleep-in-bed) to see the actual opening event, but I did head down to Camp Mojache and Gadgetzan to see the high-level elites.

On arriving in the sleepy jungle town of Camp Mojache, my pet and I were immediately one-shotted by a big honkin' elite. Fun!

I decided it was animal cruelty to send my pet to fight an elite twenty levels above us, so I let him stay down. Me, of course, I started plinking away at them with my bow. I'm not sure how the hell I managed to get aggro in a group with 60s, but they came after me several times. Fortunately, they were pretty slow and lumbering, so I was usually able to get away and come back for more.

The way it worked was a couple of the big Anubis guys would spawn with some smaller guards, and when they were all dead, a bunch of (relatively) small bugs spawned. None of my screenshots really showed them clearly, probably because I spent all my time running like hell. They didn't hit as insanely hard as the daddies, but they were a lot speedier. :P

Add into the mix an immense crystal shard that mind-controlled any players who came near it and forced them to attack their allies, and you've got one hell of a party! We had no choice but to put our teammates out of their enslaved misery before they killed the lowbies. (Actually, I think some of us enjoyed it.)

He's my mage, Pa. I'll shoot him myself. T_T

We did eventually take down the bad guys, though.

Then I headed off to Gadgetzan to check out the scene there. Yup, another gigantic mind control crystal.

And more of the same Egyptian-themed elites. The massive hits say "This means war", but the body language says "Ew, I think I have gnome stuck to the bottom of my ginormous sandal".

The Alliance had a full-on raid going. I watched a lot, helped a little. A lowbie orc hid behind me. :D

I got mind-controlled several times. Some people were joking that the AI played their class better than they did, but it was pretty stupid when it was using me. At this point, it had just put up Aspect of the Hawk and Rapid Fire... and then proceeded to melee a shaman until I died. Yeah, it's random.

"Umi's Mechanical Yeti" would be a good name for a band.

I logged off in Gadgetzan and went out with [livejournal.com profile] noblerot for a while (shout-out!), and when I came back, the decayed corpses of dozens of casualties littered the city streets. Sweeeeet.

Wow, I need to find out how to separate my chat boxes like that... how handy!

Favorite quote o' the day: "I think I made a better mage under mc than I do normally."

That AI needs to help me lern2play. :/

It's part of the standard UI. When you right-click on the chat box tab, one of the options is "Create new window" or something like that. Then you can just drag it wherever and use the options to pick what messages you want to appear in the box. So all I did to make a guild chat box was make a new window and turn off everything except guild messages, and then get rid of guild messages in the main chat window.

So to speak.
