December meme: Most outlandish het pairings

[livejournal.com profile] tamlane asked, What are the most outlandish het pairings you would enjoy reading, and why?

In theory, any. There is no such thing as a pairing that I would refuse to read on principle, and if the story turned out to be good, I'd enjoy it.

But interpreting the question to mean pairings where I'd immediately get excited that they'd been written at all... Well, most of the pairings I like are already pretty far off the beaten path, so I'm gonna have to dig deep here. (Since it's [livejournal.com profile] tamlane asking, I assume Harry Potter pairings are what's meant, so I'll stick to that.)

Albus Dumbledore/Lily Evans
I have strong feelings about Lily that I've tried to write about a couple of times, but there's still more in my head. She exists mostly as someone who has to die for the plot to function and everyone's motivations to make sense, and that seems incredibly unfair to her as a human being. One interpretation is that Albus made this choice for her, arranging things so that it would happen. I've always wanted to read something about their relationship. Though it could be gen, pairing them up would raise the emotional stakes quite a bit, wouldn't it? Hell, maybe she was the one pulling his strings all along.

Aberforth Dumbledore/Luna
I like Aberforth a lot and I like thinking about his role in the Hogwarts resistance in Book 7. I'd really be excited to see anything about his relationship with the D.A. kids that year, but I'm saying Luna because you asked for het, and because I like Luna and she was there at least part of the year. Since we're sharing, I actually have kind of a pet thing for Luna with older men... Maybe it's because she seems like one of those kids who might get along better with adults than peers. See also the next pairing:

Ollivander/Luna
I don't know how "outlandish" this is since they obviously do share a bond in canon, but it's something I've never seen, that's for sure. I think it would be fascinating to explore their connection and expand on it post-series. According to Pottermore he has a family, but maybe Luna is the only one who really understands what he went through during the war.

Firenze/Lavender or Firenze/Parvati or Firenze/Lavender/Parvati
I've seen Firenze/Parvati written as G-rated romance, which is fine and all. But. Sometimes you just want some centaur porn, you know?

Prongs/Lily
Why not? Padfoot gets smut written about him all the time. Where's the cervine love?! I can't even pretend there's any deep meaning behind this one, I just find animagus sex hot. (If we can't be honest about our tastes in fandom, then where?)

Provided this post didn't scare you off it, you can still give me questions/topics on LJ and DW.

fjdkfjsdfds Yes. Yes, I do know. I would devour that.

And considering my recent obsession with May-December pairings, I'd love to read the first three, too. Maybe not the last one so much, but that's probably just because I'm not so big on James/Lily. Something like Prongs/McGonagall or Prongs/Rosmerta? Yep, I'd be all over that.

Thank you so much for this post!!! It's given me food for thought. >:D

I wouldn't say I'm big on James/Lily either, but I really like fics where Lily does something dirty (I want to see her reputation as a pure-hearted martyr sullied), so Prongs/Lily would hit that button for me. But I'd read your suggestions too. Prongs/Rosmerta sounds especially good after that amazing Rosmerta fic I know we both just read. :D

And considering Ollivander and Luna were locked up in a basement together, maybe they'd have some things to talk about...

my question:

What advice would you give a someone who wants to write in a fandom that they've never written in before?

Well right, that's the bond I spoke of! He says she was "an inexpressible comfort" to him during their captivity. Hot.

Wait, that's a George Eliot quote (https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/219719-oh-the-comfort-the-inexpressible-comfort-of-feeling-safe-with), isn't it? Definitely hot, in that case.

I track the George Eliot tag on tumblr; that one comes up a lot (though not as often as "It's never too late to be what you might have been.")

Centaur porn would be interesting to read. The phrase always brings me back to an H/D fic (Freudian Slip?) where a waiter says "would you like some centaur porn?...I mean, creamed corn". Now that's the type of line that sticks in your head.
