det regner menn
I'm afraid I'm still pretty ill and not able to keep up on things as I'd like to, but I had to share a little laugh I had this morning while doing my Norwegian lesson on Duolingo. I've just started and am still struggling with every word, which I think made it even funnier to me when I figured it out.

I'm so sorry to hear you've been ill; I looked back a few entries to see what was going on and it sounds like really exhausting and dispiriting stuff. I hope you have good and dedicated docs who'll sort this out and get you feeling better, ASAP! ((((hugs))))
I've been really slacking with LJ for months – didn't mean to, just got overwhelmed by RL. But I happened to log on tonight with my brand spanking new MacBook (brought it home yesterday and I'm in the first flush of love) and there was your subject line meeting me on the top of my f-page. Halleluja, det regner menn! I'm delighted that you've started to learn Norwegian! And hey, you never know when such a phrase can come in handy (if nowhere else, then maybe when singing karaoke in Norway? :P)

I got your email and look forward to getting the chance to sit down and reply. I'm so glad things are looking up in your neck of the woods. (
I've only taken baby steps on the Norwegian course so far, though I have managed to annoy my son by narrating his dinner ("Uh... Gutten... drikker... melk") which makes it completely worthwhile.
Jeg elsker deg! ♥

We were really happy with that report – of course it's going to take time because new structures will need to be planned and changes implemented from the ground up. But there's political will to do it now, it seems. The health ministry has been working at speed and got a law proposal about self-determined legal gender sent out before the summer holidays. It makes me happy that they're moving so quickly; it's a sign that they're seriously committed to change things.
Hah, the idea of Parker scowling over your Norwegian at dinner makes me giggle! You should teach him to say "Gi deg, pappa!"
Love you too, søtnos! :)

Gi deg, pappa!
Sorry, I don't know this one! Is it an idiom? Trying to look it up didn't get me far.

Norwegian lesson of today: 'Gi deg' literally means 'surrender', 'give yourself [up]', in the imperative, but it's also an idiomatic expression for 'stop it', as in, 'OMG stop it, Daaaad'. *g*

Here's hoping both you and Hannelore get some relief from your ills very soon.
