It is my conversations with chresimos that have made me increasingly aware of the excellence of Barty. He's the only reason I'm managing to get through GoF.

Man, don't be all down on GoF! Sure it doesn't make sense, but think of it this way.... It's like a bunch of random episodes of the TV show that is Harry Potter. All the little chapters and plotlines don't really have anything to do with anything else, but they're fun, they're entertaining, and they just provide more detail about the world and the characters Rowling deals with.

Again with the essay - it made me think of GoF in terms of themes. Especially the theme of volition - the Crouches, the house elves, the Unforgiveables... Veritaserum. .....mmMMmmm veritaserum.... The nightgown scene.

Really, GoF is all about two words:
