In lieu of a real post, have a meme! [livejournal.com profile] lumosed_quill gave me the letter A, with which my answers to the following prompts must start.

Something I hate: ANTS!!! Assholes. Alopecia (on me — other people's hair can do what it wants).

Something I love: Avocados. Adventure games. Art.

Somewhere I've been: Allentown, PA (for a Rocky Horror convention, and I got the impression that we had far more fun there than anyone had ever had in Allentown before). Anaheim, CA (Disneyland). Arizona. Arlington National Cemetery.

Somewhere I'd like to go: Anywhere my friends are. Sorry, that's cheating, but I'm really not much for traveling, except to visit people.

Someone I know: Adam, my WoW BFF and bromantic partner of several years.

A film I liked: Allegro Non Troppo. All or Nothing. Apocalypse Now. Alice in Wonderland (1951).

If you want to play, leave a comment for a letter of your very own.

My love for avocados knows no bounds \o/ How do you like them best?

Oh, how don't I like them? I like them in guacamole, on sandwiches, in salads, or just by themselves!

Here's a story — when I was in middle school, my mom took my brother to a school trip over the weekend and I got to stay at home by myself. I was even trusted with some money to buy food or other necessary things.

What did I buy? Not cookies or candy... avocados. So many of them. And I ate them all without having to share with anybody. >:D

Your 'current music' made me laugh! Poor kid, and poor you!

You should think of visiting Norway, even though it doesn't start with an 'A'. :)

We actually have thought about it! The airfare is surprisingly cheap — perhaps there's not a lot of demand? Still, kind of strange that we could fly there for less than it costs to fly across the US.

What time of year is best to visit, do you think? It's nothing we could plan for the immediate future ([livejournal.com profile] _hannelore's work injury has left the coffers a bit low) but still something to ponder...

Oh, this is very exciting! :D Okay, Norwegian climate being what it is, you should probably try to avoid the period of late autumn into early spring. May through September would be your safest bet to avoid dismal weather.

We don't live in one of the really spectacular parts of Norway, so if you want to shoot for dizzying fjord and mountain views you may want to combine with a trip further north or south-west. But we've got plenty of pretty scenery, and a big town with interesting history nearby. We'd love to have you staying with us and show you around! Whee! ♥

Yay, I'm so happy you're enthused about the idea! I was waiting for you to say something because I figured it'd be rude to invite myself. ;)

How much space do you guys have for houseguests? If a trip happens, we were leaning towards maybe not bringing P. simply because he might not be that interested and can be extremely inflexible about things like different foods. [livejournal.com profile] _hannelore has said she wouldn't mind if I went by myself, but would there actually be room for both of us?

Aww, well actually when I said you should think about visiting Norway, what I meant was you should think about visiting me! ;D

We have a computer room doubling as a guest room, which has a bed in it, and room on the floor for two extra mattresses, so there'd be room for all of you, and you're all so very welcome! And as for P. and food, I'm sure we could figure that part out if he'd otherwise like to come. :)

Oh, this is so exciting! We've been talking about it nonstop. :D

It's so kind of you to invite us all. It may seem weird to consider not bringing a kid on a trip solely because of food issues, but it's a sensory processing thing with his autism. It's slowly getting better, but he still limits himself not only to certain foods, but certain brands of foods, which I suspect could be a problem overseas. But I guess we have time to put in some research on what's available. :)

March will be [livejournal.com profile] _hannelore's first full month back at work, so we should have a better idea then of what our finances will be like and whether it would be realistic to think about a vacation this year, or if we should shoot for 2016. I'll let you know how things are looking!

I don't think it's weird at all! I definitely understand the problem. If there are any questions you have about availability of certain brands in Norway, let me know and if I don't know, I'll try to find out. ♥

And yeah, just let me know when you have a better overview of the financial situation. :) Since we're in the middle of clearing out and selling the flat in Oslo and also because the situation about G. and treatment is very up in the air at the moment, the next few months are a bit unpredictable for us anyway — it may be best to shoot for late summer/early autumn if you decide you can come this year, because hopefully by then those situations will have resolved.

Anyway — I'm excited too! :D There are lots of places nearby that are doable as a daytrip or a two-day car trip (look up Atlanterhavsveien, Røros or Råkvåg, for instance). And the nearby Big Town has a spectacular cathedral and is a nice and cozy place in general, and takes just 30 minutes by the local bus. And you'll get to see my fjord!
