So this was my dream last night:

It took place at Hogwarts, but it was a cartoon, not live action. Hermione said something implying that Slytherins were terrible, and Pansy overheard her.

Then cartoon!Pansy launched into an elaborate musical number called "I Will Dye My Hair Slytherin", singing about her Slytherin pride and magically turning her outfit (and hair) into various Slytherin designs as she danced all over the Great Hall.

I'm deeply sorry to report that I don't really remember how the song went. I think the tune was something along the lines of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year".

Unfortunately, the rest of the dream descended into the usual dreamlike incoherence after the musical number. But when I woke up I had the alarming sense that I might actually be a musical and/or animation genius, and only the insecurities of my conscious mind are holding me back from realizing my potential.

This morning I dreamed that I was lost in an airport, late for a flight, and couldn't find my gate. I got separated from my family and had no idea what to do, so I went looking for Patrick Stewart. When I found him he was sitting on the floor playing the Starcraft tutorial on an iPad and giggling to himself. He was wearing a really cool leather jacket. Before I could tell him what the problem was, someone else came in and told me where I needed to go, and Patrick Stewart gave me a big hug before sending me on my way.

This morning I dreamed that I was at a performance of The Mikado where Nanki-Poo was played by Paul Reubens (yes, Pee-Wee, but not as that character), but he couldn't sing so he was playing all his songs on a violin.

I was enjoying the hell out of this, and when I woke up, it was with an annoyed sense of Hey, I was watching that!

I'm already signed up for way too many things to add Yuletide at this point, but I always enjoy reading the letters. Every year I find out that people on my flist love things that I also love, but had never come up in conversation. It's such an awesome feeling. And then there's the joy of picking out treats I want to write, which of course is much easier than actually writing them, but hey, it could happen!

Unrelatedly, last night I had one of those dreams that I guess you'd call an anxiety dream, of the "oh no something's going wrong and I'm going to be made a fool of" variety, though I actually didn't feel anxious. I dreamed I was performing in Rocky Horror (which hasn't happened in uh... over a decade). I was playing Riff Raff and doing the costume change during floorshow, and I realized that whoever was supposed to be playing Magenta wasn't there. So I peeked out the door at the top of the aisle and grabbed an audience member, and told her all she had to do was just stand to my left and follow me, so at least I wouldn't be standing there by myself. (This never exactly happened to me, but similar things did, and "grab an audience member" is probably what I would have actually done.) What does it mean?!

I have not seen The Avengers yet. I had a dream that I was watching it, and trying really hard to like it, and thinking "well this character is kind of cool, I could write fic about him" but then things kept happening that made me go "wow this is really dumb and bad and I dislike it", and it was associated with a lot of anxiety.

Apparently I worry in my subconsious that I'm not capable of liking the things other people like because I'm broken somehow? This is not a thing I worry about when I'm awake. Sigh.

A plan that sounded better yesterday than today:

"I don't want to stay late, I can just come to work early in the morning and finish this."

blaaaaaaaaaaagh

I dreamed I was playing WoW with my BFF from middle school, who continuously and annoyingly asked me if I was sure I didn't want to play my alt, because she could switch to her DPS if I really wanted to switch and it wasn't a big deal, and she wouldn't let it go. Which is totally how she would have acted in such a situation, or at least she would have when she was 12.

In closing, it is evidently impossible to take a break from the game, because doing so causes me to perpetually dream about it. You win this round, Blizzard.

I dreamed that we were playing WoW with David Letterman. I don't know why, since I haven't actually been playing WoW lately, and I have really no strong feelings or thoughts about David Letterman in any way. I've never even watched his show.

Anyway, he was in our guild and we all knew who he was, but in the dream we'd known him for a long time so it wasn't a big deal to us. He played a female holy pally, which if you don't know what that is, it looks like this.

I was actually not doing anything much, the majority of the dream was listening to the healers trying to strategize over voice chat, which sounded like this:

person in our guild: I don't think there were enough people on the left side.
David Letterman: I can be... I can go over there.
person in our guild: Yeah, then if there's more people...
David Letterman: If I'm over here I'm not sure if I have range on the people on the other side. I mean on the other side of the boss.
person in our guild: No, I think it's fine, I have it.
David Letterman: Okay.

This story was based on a dream I had, and incorporates many elements of my personal life that I have often said I would never write fiction about.

Last night I had a dream that Obama won the election. This is pretty strange since I have given up politics and current events in general, and really haven't been following the race at all. When I watched that Obama rickroll, I realized that bit with McCain at the beginning was the first time I had seen any part of any speech by one of the candidates during the campaign.

I did go to electoral-vote.com to see how things were going. I was pretty glued to that site in 2004. I followed the race closely and actually donated to the Kerry campaign, which has caused the Democratic party to spam me mercilessly ever since.

A few weeks back some people were having a bake sale near my work to raise money for Obama. I bought a pumpkin muffin because I really wanted one. So if they actually donated the cash, my two dollars went to Obama. But I don't know man, that muffin was good. I probably would have bought it no matter what candidate it was for.

In other news, the co-leader of my incipient guild works at a Wal-mart in rural Illinois.

all the managers are afraid of me for some reason )

My DSL is working again.

My body is not working anymore.

I had a dream that I was in a play, and not only did I not know my lines, but I was also not sure which characters I was playing. I knew one of them, but I thought I was supposed to play another as well (which I think derived from reading the Wikipedia article on Angels in America), and when I asked the director she pointed out that in fact SHE was playing the character I thought I was. And also I didn't have my costume. And the director was my ex-girlfriend.

More of you should read [livejournal.com profile] urbaniak, which is the really real LJ of Actor James Urbaniak, as seen on TV, as seen in movies, and as heard in radio commercials. He has a distinct knack for performative blogging, where he tells you what's going on in his life but makes it come out really entertaining and cool instead of lame and emo.

Today:
I have an audition tomorrow for an episode of a TV show. The last page of my character's sides ends with this stage direction: "FWOOSH! He BURSTS INTO FLAMES." Tips on how I can pull this off in the audition room are appreciated.

My phone ringing on the morning of my day off:

Boss: I'm trying to do the t-shirt inventory and I can't find it it isn't on the clipboard or in the folder where did you put it

me: wut

Boss: Oh here it is never mind it was just a bad dream go back to sleep

me: k zzzzz

I suppose it's possible this didn't really happen.

Other highlights of the day: Locking myself out of my house and having to force the window open.
