[livejournal.com profile] maidenjedi and [livejournal.com profile] donnaimmaculata, your cards came! ♥

Didn't come online for a day and a half. At skip=200, I gave up. Did I miss anything?

(Yes, I saw the Tim Spall interview! God, I love him so much. If you haven't gone and seen the other stuff he's done, then basically... you suck.)

On Tuesday, [livejournal.com profile] malograntum and I went to the Courtly Art of the Ancient Maya exhibit at the Legion of Honor. Despite the rain, the exhibit was extremely crowded; I was glad to see there was so much interest. I've read a lot about the Maya lately, so it was exciting to see the art and inscriptions up close.

When I go to a museum, I usually want to sketch, but the crowdedness made that tricky. I only managed to draw one thing, wedging myself into a particularly hot and noisy corner. It was worth it, though.

That's a good sketch! Do you generally put up your sketches from exhibitions? So nice for those of us who live in places without the resources of San Francisco. OMG I miss all the pre-Columbian art I could see travelling in the USA; we have some here in Oz, and it's well-curated, but the variety, the sheer range we can't match!.

Now I know about this exhibition, at least I can go look at the website, see what's to be seen there. *sigh*

Your king has a wonderfully Snape-like noble nose, though a bit fleshy around the nostrils for Snape, as the Maya tended to be... I especially love the small, beautifully-executed pottery pieces, though the gold displays always bring the visitors in. *sighs again*

Very cool sketch! *sketch scan love*

I read the interview and swooned, did I ever swoon. That man is such a quotable genius. I swear, if I had money for a billboard...

Finally saw Spiderman 2 and swooned for Doc Ock. Yow. Have you seen the DVD yet? The extra "Eight Arms to Hold You" is damn amazing. (Yes, I squee'd. I dearly want to be that mad scientist's assistant.)
