Everyone should go and read "Listeners" by winter_baby (R, Harry/Draco). I know WB from XF fandom, where she always blows me away with the elegant lyricism of her work, and her first foray into HP doesn't disappoint. There are places in this story that have this bright, simple beauty that just *pulls* at you.

Before Ron even reaches the board, you know that his word is going to be Muggles, because this is a Muggle game and Ron's mind always makes the simplest of word associations. You've already guessed the first two letters when Malfoy suddenly jumps up from his seat and scribbles Mudblood over Ron's writing, the d hanging off the end like a broken tail.

Even if you're not such a H/D fan (and I'm not), you may well enjoy this -- WB falls prey to none of the irritating fanon that's so persistent in that pairing. Coming as she does from another fandom, her perspective is a breath of fresh air.
