Writ (G, Dumbledore/Filch) by
atdelphi
Delphi has the best Filch in the fandom, in my humble opinion, and this fic made me fall in love with him all over again. Quiet and lovely, nostalgic-- about growing old. Dumbledore is believable and sympathetic, which is quite a feat, at least when I'm the reader. Even if the pairing seems peculiar, I beg you to give this beautiful story a try.
'The castle prefers a personal touch, that much may not be disputed, and Albus cannot give it to her. Theirs is a marriage of alliance, of protection, with a love born more of constancy than passion. He often watches Argus prowling the hallways, lantern in hand, head cocked to one side as though listening to a voice only he can hear...'
All Hallow's Eve (PG, Voldemort/Peter) by
alliante
Post-GoF Voldemort/Peter! Somebody up there likes me! What a dark, rich morsel this ficlet is, full of danger and vulnerability.
'Samhain, the Dark Lord calls it. He says it in a soft, reverent way; a way that's surprising, startling, confusing. Voldemort has a creeping, snakelike voice, but when he pronounces this new word - sow, and then een - his words are quiet, and curl around Peter's ears like woodsmoke...'
Absolution (G, Jack-centric) by
minor_blue
PotC fandom. This is an icon ficlet, and it's mine, all mine! <3
'Absolution comes with a life well-lived, not a life lived well...'
Don't forget to feed the authors.
BOOK.
Pursuant to my previous entry, there is a book by Hanne Blank [EDIT:
misia] that I think some of you may be interested in: Big Big Love: A SourceBook on Sex for People of Size and Those Who Love Them, which I really think should get some sort of prize for lamest title of a book that's actually very cool.
Whatever your Size or that of the people you Love, you'll find out things you didn't know about the way fat people are treated in American society. And if you're taking my sage advice on allowing characters to be fat -- even very fat (I'm looking at you, Dudley fans) -- whilst having sex in your fic, Hanne will tell you everything you need to know about that, too. It's an engaging, sex-positive, stereotype-busting read. What more could you ask?
