I mean, cough, this seems like a good time to talk about how this plays in the movie. I unabashedly loved what Ralph Fiennes did with it. It wasn't unlike the book, it just used the parts of this chapter that completely work, like V's sensuality, magnetism, and total batshit-craziness; and left out the parts that don't work, like dragging out the villainous exposition so long that it becomes absurd. I think it was [livejournal.com profile] noblerot who said that in the movie, V seems less calculating, more wild -- you don't know what he's going to do and maybe neither does he, his triumph and madness propelling him this way and that. He is more dangerous, and less -- well -- ridiculous.
