this just in, eggs and milk don't spoil
Jan. 9th, 2009 07:29 pmTwo days ago my boss had in her lunch some mayonnaise in a tiny plastic cup with a lid. She announced that she was going to keep it in case she wanted to put it on something else.
Yesterday, it was still sitting on her desk. (We don't have a refrigerator.) I decided if she wanted to subject herself to day-old mayonnaise, that was her business.
Today it was still there. I told her that the grace period for leaving mayonnaise lying around had expired and that I was going to throw it away. She then denied that mayonnaise could go bad, which I told her was absurdly untrue. Her argument was that they don't put mayonnaise in the refrigerated section of the grocery store, to which I countered that those are AIRTIGHT SEALED jars of mayonnaise, not sitting in a non-airtight plastic cup.
But then, this is the same person who had to be informed by me, last week, that you can recycle paper even if it has writing on both sides of it.
eta: That last sentence means you CAN recycle paper with writing on both sides. Honestly it does!
