It's the true story of playwright Joe Orton (Gary Oldman) and his lover/mentor, Kenneth Halliwell (Alfred Molina). Orton becomes the successful and promiscuous toast of swinging London; Halliwell flails, and grows increasingly bitter. Things don't turn out well, but it's witty right up to the end. Lots of rough trade, boy-on-boy action. ("Prick Up Your Ears" is an anagram for "Prick Up Your Arse.") Directed by Stephen Frears. Great stuff.
But Doc Ock? I'm with you there. The weirdly tender relationship between Otto and his homicidal arms... the sunglasses... the trenchcoat. All this, and Tobey Maguire, too.
