GIP! Icon and art by
alibi_factory. He did a whole series of very cool black-and-white Slytherin portraits, and was kind enough to make an icon at my request. Ah, my other OTP...
I should have saved my rec of Clipped Wings for today, because it is the anniversary of dear
tekalynn's birth. Hope you had a good day!
I wanted to continue with the meme recs today, but... exhaustion. There are more, though. Promise.
Do you know what you get when you slash Demeter with Diana?

Hotspur.
Everyone who got it, raise your hand.

Date: 2004-09-23 12:08 am (UTC)You know what else, though? If you slash Spider-Man, you end up with...
Otter.
(And seriously, yeah, I don't know what the hell is going on with the GoF screenplay. It's gonna be weird, dude.)

Date: 2004-09-23 12:40 am (UTC)(You know, I already have a fan connotation with "Otter," because it's the name of the character that Tim Matheson played in Animal House, and so the recappers at TWoP always called him Vice President Otter.)

(I really meant to use the TWW icon over here.)

Date: 2004-09-23 01:28 am (UTC)As an aside, I was just visiting a thread over in Hetville, where they give their ships very peculiar names indeed. Ron/Hermione is known as The Good Ship, for tolerably evident reasons. Harry/Hermione is known as HMS Pumpkin Pie, which I've just discovered is because of a fic. Draco/Ginny is known as HMS Orange Crush, for reasons I have yet to determine.
(...still, I consider myself lucky... </tomfelton>)

Date: 2004-09-23 01:47 am (UTC)Some of them, like Flaming Toad (Ginny/Neville) are cute enough. But in the end it all just makes me long for the days when you could just say "M/K."
I mean, come on. How can you even have a 'ship for Neville and Girl!Blaise, let alone a name for it, let alone give it a name like "Forgotten Silver Snake"? How much discussion can you have of this 'ship? Could you really bring it up often enough that you wouldn't have to explain the clever name each time? I'm totally missing the point of this, aren't I?

Date: 2004-09-23 12:20 am (UTC)One "reference book" on goddess spirituality listed "diameter" as coming from a Greek goddess name. I about dropped the book on my foot, which would not have been a good thing as the damn thing weighs about five pounds. It is *not* in my personal library.

Date: 2004-09-23 02:24 am (UTC)I think it'll have to be Brassius. Or maybe we could give it a cutesy ship name. HMS Inevitable Doom or somesuch.
