GIP! Icon and art by [livejournal.com profile] alibi_factory. He did a whole series of very cool black-and-white Slytherin portraits, and was kind enough to make an icon at my request. Ah, my other OTP...

I should have saved my rec of Clipped Wings for today, because it is the anniversary of dear [livejournal.com profile] tekalynn's birth. Hope you had a good day!

I wanted to continue with the meme recs today, but... exhaustion. There are more, though. Promise.

Do you know what you get when you slash Demeter with Diana?

DIAMETER.

I got a million of 'em.

ETA, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] malograntum:

And what do you call Harry/Percy?

Hotspur.

Everyone who got it, raise your hand.

DIAMETER.

That one's good, but I think "Hotspur" wins.

OH! Thanks for reminding me.

(And hee. That is one of the many wonderful line readings in the movie.)

Ha, yes. I feel a whole series of awesome-line-reading icons coming on... or maybe just the Unappreciated Boys of PoA.

If there were an appropriate picture of the actress who plays Pansy out there, I'd go for "Does it hurt terribly, Draco?" next.

But maybe that's just me.

I think such a cap does exist, probably from here, though you could probably find an icon base somewhere more convenient. And it is most certainly not just you. The girl only got one line, but she made the most of it!

"Why don't you go play with your chemistry set?"

Those caps, while an admirable collection, did not suit my purposes. However, I find that there is at last a Genevieve Gaunt website (http://www.geocities.com/genevieve_gaunt/) with as good a collection of pics as one could hope for given that, y'know, she's barely in the movie.

Also, apparently Chris Rankin does not expect to be in the GoF movie. It's an anti-Percy conspiracy, I tell you.

I think it's an anti-Percy/Crouch conspiracy, actually, since that's all Percy really does in GoF.

From: [identity profile] malograntum.livejournal.com
Hah. Seriously, though, I don't know how they intend to establish Crouch and his whole plot without Percy.

Also, it occurs to me that if you slash Percy with Crouch, you get Pouch.

(And seriously, yeah, I don't know what the hell is going on with the GoF screenplay. It's gonna be weird, dude.)

Hahahaha! No, you didn't tell me that already.

(You know, I already have a fan connotation with "Otter," because it's the name of the character that Tim Matheson played in Animal House, and so the recappers at TWoP always called him Vice President Otter.)

Spock.

Snort. *stifles urge to link to that massive [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge thread...*

As an aside, I was just visiting a thread over in Hetville, where they give their ships very peculiar names indeed. Ron/Hermione is known as The Good Ship, for tolerably evident reasons. Harry/Hermione is known as HMS Pumpkin Pie, which I've just discovered is because of a fic. Draco/Ginny is known as HMS Orange Crush, for reasons I have yet to determine.

(...still, I consider myself lucky... </tomfelton>)

I have seen it, though it's rather rare that I go to FA for any reason whatsoever. If you're missing the point, I am too... those het-writers do the most peculiar things. It's like a different fandom, really.

That too. (I don't think you give Neville enough credit, though. He was, after all, the first of our heroes to get a date to the Yule Ball, wasn't he, and with a girl whose company he actually enjoys?)

You've seen the so-called Master List (http://www.fictionalley.org//fictionalleypark/forums/showthread.php?&threadid=4591), right?

Some of them, like Flaming Toad (Ginny/Neville) are cute enough. But in the end it all just makes me long for the days when you could just say "M/K."

I mean, come on. How can you even have a 'ship for Neville and Girl!Blaise, let alone a name for it, let alone give it a name like "Forgotten Silver Snake"? How much discussion can you have of this 'ship? Could you really bring it up often enough that you wouldn't have to explain the clever name each time? I'm totally missing the point of this, aren't I?

You know, I can *see* Demeter and Diana having a fling, somehow. Diana/Artemis was canonically a dyke and Demeter doesn't seem to have much use for men in general, and I can see them getting together over a glass or two of nectar every century or so.

One "reference book" on goddess spirituality listed "diameter" as coming from a Greek goddess name. I about dropped the book on my foot, which would not have been a good thing as the damn thing weighs about five pounds. It is *not* in my personal library.

If anything, you're probably just not dorky enough for my journal. ;) It's a history joke.
