Yeah, the reds and oranges from my Okeetee corn didn't come through on her sheds at all, and she was as bright as living flame. Weasley hair had nothing on this snake! So I'd have to surmise that it's just the melanin that bleeds into the top layer of keratin. I've never seen a shed from an actual green snake, so it's all guessing...
...but I'm getting into herp-geekery and nitpicky talk of coloration. Much more of this and 'het' will start making me think of recessive genes again...
