De minimus non curat recs.
Jan. 27th, 2005 04:34 pmThe trouble with this is... how can you tell?
Well, anyway, here's a couple of recs in the spirit of the day:

Anomie in Five Easy Steps (NC-17, Harry/various) by
bookofjude
This is a pretty intense mindfuck. I see that commenters have likened it to the works of JG Ballard and William Burroughs, and I think those comparisons are apt. I'd say there's some Camus in there too. When I'm reading a story that has a style I really like, I'll sometimes start reading it out loud, just feeling the words and the rhythm (er, provided no one's around). I started reading this fic out loud almost immediately.
And it's Genderfuck Month at
pornish_pixies, so I've got some for that, too:
Territorial (NC-17, Snape/Black) by
stiletto
There's more to this fic than meets the eye. Rather than simply giving Sirius and Severus female bodies, Greenie reinterprets the entire dynamic between them, commenting both on their canon relationship, and on the different way teenaged girls who hate each other interact, the different way girls use sex. Very skillfully done. Dyke!Snape is particularly wonderful.
Five Times True (NC-17, Lucius/Narcissa) by
hydaspes
In this fic, Narcissa has transfigured herself (for plot-related reasons) into a teenaged boy -- and I think to say more would be spoilery. Suffice it to say that the concept is a hoot, and the romance is delightfully twisted, just as it should be with this pairing.
If you enjoy any of these stories, don't forget to let the authors know.
