On a somewhat similar note,mollymoon also brought up the question of whether lycanthropy can be passed from parent to child (presumably only mother to child, since it's an acquired illness and not genetic). To know that, we'd have to figure out how it's passed... Saliva apparently carries the virus(?) -- perhaps blood does too. Any thoughts?
