It amazes me that people answer their cell phones in the "quiet study area" of the library and have loud conversations that are clearly not about urgent situations that can't wait.

Maybe the fact that this still amazes me means I haven't given up on the human race after all.

One of my friends has also joined my old guild (er, my new guild... it's like Grover Cleveland, nonconsecutive terms), and we're finding out how hard it is not to butt in with your own opinion about how to do things. Neither of us had ever taken a step back in progression before (ie, joined a guild that was stuck on bosses we've already done), so this is the first time we've ever had the opportunity to be that guy who says "well in MY old guild we did it THIS way" every couple of minutes when no one asked his opinion. We're trying really hard not to be that guy, and I think succeeding so far.

Of course it would be well intentioned. They probably would be better off knowing what we know. But if you don't wait until someone asks your opinion to share it, you just come off like you think you're god's gift to wow and everyone resents it. Funny how that works. Had the occasion to comment:

People are happier dying than being told how not to die.

every time I think the capacity for human rudeness can't reach new heights, stories like that remind me they can. I'm almost positive someone's talked on their cell during a wedding, funeral, birth. It has all the making of a sci-fi short story where cell phones become sentient objects like daemons.

I probably overstepped that rule with one of the DoA officers already by talking about Vashj, but it was done innocently enough. He probably resented me saying anything as well, but oh well.

Emo eventually asked for my opinion on their Vashj strategy. I don't know if anyone's ever asked my opinion on a raid before. There could be something to this "not butting in" concept.

it's one of the reasons I'm hesitant to even offer being a backup tank. I figure if she needs a backup tank, she'll ask. I'm glad she did ask you about the strat, though.

I don't think it would be so bad to offer. I don't really understand what the issue is with their tank roster. When I asked her why they didn't do Al'ar and she said they didn't have the tanks for it, I accepted that because if she was on birds they would have only had two tanks on Al'ar, one of which was undergeared. But then she said that she disagreed with the people who said it wasn't enough tanks, but they didn't listen to her, or something, and implied it wasn't the first time.

I don't know what tanks they normally have who have apparently not been showing up. The only geared tanks I've seen on their raids are Emo and Manslaughter.

this concerns me a little, I mean she is the GM and the raid leader. It's her call.

Then again we've seen what happens when a GM doesn't listen to the other officers.
