Fandom year in review.

I know everyone else has done this already, but I had to wait until I could actually claim everything I wrote in 2005 as mine. I had an extremely eventful year, fandom-wise, so I went month by month and talked about all the stuff I did. Is this interesting only to me? Quite possibly!
January
Mostly taken up with the PS/SS re-read, but I also wrote a gen HP ficlet: Vierge (G, Snape & Lupin).
I was also very into Lost at this point, which has subsequently failed to hold my interest. But I wrote a ficlet for it, upon this lovely incestuous pairing becoming canon: The Fourteenth Piece (PG, Shannon/Boone).
February
After PS/SS was over, I took a two-week LJ break in which I tried very hard to write something related to Julius Caesar for the
pornish_pixies Shakespeare Challenge. I really wanted to. Instead I wrote Guiltier Than Him They Try (NC-17, Lucius/Draco) in one day. It was loosely based on Measure for Measure, but was mostly an excuse for Hot Incestuous Sex0rz.
March
I did not write any fic this month. What was I doing? Not a whole lot, it looks like. I think I was working on Jingree instead of doing fandom. My Shakespeare phase also continued with Ancient Danish Crack.
April
Activities included watching Smallville, talking about Smallville, reading TWoP recaps of Smallville, choreographing interpretive dances about Smallville, reading Smallville fic, and thinking about Lex's cock. Also I wrote Scottish Castles (G), wherein Argus Filch meets Lex Luthor. I had other SV fic ideas, but they never came to fruition, for which we may all be thankful.
May
Upon returning tosanity HP, I participated in
mctabby's Cat's Birthday Drabblethon, for which I wrote Ridicule (G, Lupin & Snape).
This was actually a fun month. I also wrote Heat Wave (NC-17, Sirius/James) for the 2nd annual
pornish_pixies Fantasy Fest.
June
In order to intensify my fanboying of
kaptainsnot (a difficult task), I wrote Whet (G, Snape & Harry), which was based on her art.
July
HBP came out. I didn't like it, which was... kind of a bummer, really. It's easily my least favorite of the six.
Saving grace? OMG SLUGHORN.
I did write a ficlet, though: Sweet & Twenty (G, Remus & Peter) for
scribbulus_ink's Candy is Dandy challenge. Behold, it is BOOK SIX COMPLIANT. *fanfare* This was also the only Peterfic I wrote the whole goddamn year. They'll be taking my badge away soon.
August
I was busy this month. I wrote two full-length fics (well, what I consider full-length... they were each over 3000 words), which is practically unheard of for me. Moving Pictures (NC-17, Sirius/James) was a sequel to my Fantasy Fest fic, and For gods to menace fools (NC-17, Lupin/Harry) was a birthday gift for
switchknife.
Then I was given maintainership of
pornish_pixies. Then I turned 23. Then I met
aubrem,
laurelwood,
makesmewannadie, and
noblerot, plus
idlerat for the second time. Then I posted my essay on HBP Chapter 4 for the
hp_essays read-along. Then I just went o_O a lot until it was September.
This was also the month of
merry_smutmas sign-ups. Christmas seemed so faaaaaar away.
September
The first 1/3 of the GoF re-read was here. I was plowing along pretty well at this point, even though it was easily the most boring part of the book.
I already had a workable outline for my
merry_smutmas fic, and set myself a goal of adding at least 1000 words per week. I came close enough to meeting that goal, with over 4000 words written by the end of the month.
I also wrote Split (NC-17, Tom/Slughorn, Tom/Albus), which was a lot of fun. I ♥ Sluggy.
October
My Slughorn love continued unabated with The Set (NC-17, Sirius/Regulus/Slughorn). I cannot, however, say the same for the GoF re-read, which stalled out at Chapter 26.
I had started editing some of my
merry_smutmas fic by this time, and was still adding. It had started to seem like the fic was just getting longer and longer without getting any closer to being done. It was 6000 words by the end of the month, which was already longer than any fic I'd ever written.
This was also when I won a Spooky, which still amuses me probably more than is healthy.
November
Another month of extreme excitement. Mere hours after turning in my finally completed
merry_smutmas fic at nearly 7000 words, I ran away to New York to meet people like
bowdlerized and
sistermagpie and
bethbethbeth and
gaeta and
_hannelore. The GoF movie was not as good as the PoA movie, but Cedric totally had his head in that guy's lap, so you can't really complain.
When I got back, I wrote Cedric and the Golden Egg (R), which was a filk of The Raven.
December
My
merry_smutmas fic was posted: The little death (NC-17, Cedric/Viktor). It was received well, which made me very happy.
Then there was
smutmas_elves, for which I wrote a short crackfic called Santa Claus Conquers the Malfoys (PG). It was perhaps not the greatest fic I wrote in 2005, but it definitely had the best title.
So, that's seven fics, seven ficlets, one poem, and one award in a fandom I'm not in. Surely this was a successful year by most standards.
