1:00am Bedtime.

6:00am Huge loud trucks arrive to do huge loud maintenance on the power lines directly outside our building. Second day in a row. They couldn't have been closer to my bedroom without being inside the building. I opened the window to see what was going on, and was eye to eye with a person standing on one of those mobile crow's nest things working on the line.

6:05am Move to Hannelore's bedroom which is on the opposite side of the apartment.

6:30am Hannelore's alarm goes off.

6:45am Power shuts off while Hannelore is in the shower. The loss of power causes the carbon monoxide alarm to make its "low battery" noise which consists of a piercing chirp every 10 seconds or so. We cannot turn it off.

6:50am Hannelore goes outside to complain, they claim that they put up "a sign" saying the power would be off. Where is this sign, exactly? They don't know.

7:00am Breakfast, with chirping. I propose to make eggs, then realize that the stove is electric.

7:45am Power comes back on. Chirping continues. Hannelore calls Landlord, who confirms that nobody ever told him they were turning the power off, or he would have told us. Spends 15 minutes trying to explain how to open the carbon monoxide alarm whilst chirping continues.

8:00am I open the carbon monoxide alarm and am a hero (not to be confused with An Hero). Hannelore and Hannelore Jr. leave -- without their respective lunches.

8:15am I decide to go to the park for some quietude. At the park, they are doing loud construction on a building. Yep.

8:45am I return home and putter on the computer, then make lunch for Hannelore and Junior.

11:00am I bring Junior his lunch at school, awkwardly explaining to An Adult that I am his mother's boyfriend. Acutely aware of not feeling old enough to be anyone's mom's boyfriend, though it will be noted that I am actually 27 and quite old enough to be Junior's dad.

11:15am I bring Hannelore her lunch at work.

11:30am I buy a spoon.

11:45am I return home, and find that the trucks, which had previously left, are back in front of the building. I ask one of the people how long they're going to be here every day, and he CLAIMS that this is the last day, and for the rest of the week they'll be on another block.

Currently: Trucks are gone again. Debating a nap.
