Yuletide reveals

Revelation! I Never Said This Job Was Easy was written by
sophia_sol, Out Cold was written by LovelyZelda, and Mystery Solving Teens Confirm the Obvious was written by
bowdlerized, which, okay... There was never any question that last fic was written by someone we knew, and Hannelore told me on the first day that she thought it was Bow, but I argued that it wasn't because I didn't think Bow would have been able to resist dropping a hint that she wrote something for us. I WAS WRONG! Bow is very sneaky and kept a completely straight face even though we were talking about writing treats for people and whether we'd have time to do it or not. ACTING!
*hugs all fantabulous authors*
I also went back and added author names to my recs post. Two of them were by the same person, which I would not have guessed. :O
As for me, I wrote:
A Sword Sharp As Your Wit (Monkey Island) for
gelishan
Patch Notes (World of Warcraft) for
_hannelore
The Unicorn Who Loved a Horse (Tangled) for
meridian_rose
The Universe Is Winding Down (Arcadia) for
bowdlerized
The Monkey Island fic was my assignment. All I was given was the fandom -- no details, characters, or letter -- so I used the characters that were nominated, figuring I could at least be assured that someone liked them! Coming up with an idea wasn't really the hardest part, though; despite being extremely familiar with the source material, I struggled with trying to match the quirky humor of it, and I don't think I quite hit the mark as much as I'd hoped. My own fault, really, since my writing leans to the serious side, and I should have considered that. I did my best, and
gelishan certainly seemed appreciative, but if I do Yuletide in the future I do not think I would offer this fandom again.
I wrote the other fics at the last minute. I don't know
meridian_rose but her letter intrigued me and I'd just watched the movie, so I figured why not? I didn't tell
_hannelore or
bowdlerized that I was writing fics for them, because I wanted to see if they would guess it was me. Bow guessed immediately but Hannelore didn't! When she told me I should go read this awesome WoW fic she got, I confessed. *egoboost*
So my first Yuletide was a bit of a mixed bag. I loved the fics I got, but I felt a little disappointed in how some of my own contributions turned out. Oh well, on to writing my
wizard_love fic!
