Are you excited? I'm excited. Let's do this!
I think my optional details give a pretty good idea of what I'm hoping for in each fandom. I like stories that focus on relationships, which can mean friendship, romance, rivalry, family, or anything else you can think of. I want to see how people interact and how that changes with either the events of canon or the events of your fic. I also really like the worlds of these fandoms (different as they are), and would enjoy something that gets deeper into them and explores how these characters fit into them. "Deeper" doesn't have to mean super-serious, I just mean immersion into what it's like living in these worlds.
I'm on a bit of a femslash kick lately, so femslash or gen would be good. (Gen will never disappoint me!) If you write sex, with these particular fandoms I'd prefer it more R-rated than NC-17, if that makes sense. Adult stories are welcome but I'm not really looking for outright smut. Fade-to-black works too. I also like ambiguous romance, hints of attraction, unrequited love, that sort of thing.
There are only a few things that seriously bother me and that I would definitely not like: Characters feeling shame for their sexual preferences, crossdressing played for a laugh (I like it as a plot element or personal exploration, just not as a punchline), anything having to do with mental hospitals, and any harm to animals.
My optional details:
Jeeves series (P.G. Wodehouse): Basically, I want to see a light-hearted story not too far off the Wodehouse style, but with female protagonist(s), and the plot not being all about romance with a man (though male characters are fine to include in supporting roles). What are these women doing when they're not mixed up in Bertie's drama? What do they want, what goes wrong when they try to get it, and how does it all get worked out in the end? I requested "any" because I truly am fond of all these characters, so choose whoever inspires you to focus on. Femslash would be entirely welcome if you're inclined, though gen would be just as good!
Mary Poppins (film): I'd like to see something exploring the relationships between any of these women, and the effect that magic has had on their lives. Who is the Bird Woman, and what's her connection to Mary? How does Jane's relationship with her mother change after Mary is gone? What does Winifred think of Mary, and vice versa? Did Jane ever see Mary again? What if Jane became part of the magical world herself, and not just a bystander? If you're adventurous, I'd absolutely read Mary/Jane -- I always thought Jane had a bit of a crush on her. I'd only like to see a romantic relationship once Jane is grown up, though.
No crossovers, please! Yes, Mary is magic, but that doesn't mean she went to Hogwarts or is a Time Lady. I'd like to focus on this particular world.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit: There are only two significant female characters in this movie, and they never talk to each other. I'd love to see how they'd interact. We know so little about Dolores -- what's her story? Jessica seems very comfortable with secrets, and tries to shield Roger from things she thinks he can't handle -- what other secrets does she have? I would definitely read femslash between these two, and gen about both or either of them is also good. What I really love is the world of this movie, that particular blend of cartoon and noir, humor and suspense. Show me some of that and I'll be very happy.
P.S. It looks like sign-ups for this fest are open until the end of the month, so there's still time!
