pauraque_bkWow, a new Harry Potter movie. I did not see that coming! I would say I'm cautiously optimistic. It might be good, and if it is (or even if it's not), I could see it breathing some new life into the fandom, which is not dead by any means, but is certainly much quieter than it once was. (This is my usual way of thinking: I don't care as much about whether some things are good as I do about whether they would be good for fandom. And sometimes the best fandoms come out of flawed source materials.)
And of course, we've got our new warchief at last. I always wanted it to be Vol'jin, but had halfway convinced myself it wouldn't be, probably to protect myself from disappointment. (Not the best attitude, I know — Chi-Ji would disapprove.) Having played trolls for the past eight years or so, I do kind of identify with them and feel like Vol'jin is my leader, so it's gratifying to see him get acknowledgement and respect.
I do sort of wonder what they plan to do with Lorthemar now, since it seems that they started developing his character almost as a misdirection so it wouldn't be overly obvious that Vol'jin was it. There weren't a lot of other realistic alternatives, though I did kind of like the idea a guildie of mine put forth that maybe they were going to do some kind of council of all the leaders, rather than a single warchief. Maybe even move towards democracy. I think that could be an interesting story, though perhaps not really conducive to MMO gameplay. (Interesting to note that according to every player poll I've seen, if there had been an election, Vol'jin would have won handily.)
Though, I don't know! We've already got Garrosh being tried for war crimes instead of being summarily executed. World of Peacecraft, go go.
