'Cause if it's his right... and it's his right hand he chops.... An argument could be made that he didn't exactly give it his best shot, so to speak. (Probably doesn't matter -- I don't think JKR would get that tricky -- but it's still an interesting idea that PP might have worked a flaw into the ritual.)
I did see ABHoT in TLC, and giggled. So much for separation of M/W Lit in Movie!Canon.
