Home Brew (NC-17, Snape/Hagrid) by

hp_flashback -- it's one of those "classic" fics I'd never read, and I'm glad I did. It's not my usual fare; it's light and funny (though not a parody), and more in JKR's chummy, tell-y style than what I'd think of as a typical slashfic style. It's a quick read for its length, and very entertaining. Nice non-fanon characterizations.
" 'ere Fang, that's enough fella, i's orright, jus' Professor Snape, see?" The hound swallowed the final growls into a yawn, then shook himself, drool flying from his jowls as he turned and padded back over onto his blanket by the fire.
"Oh, that's -- disgusting!" Snape muttered, fingers stopping just short of flicking the odd dollop of slime from the folds of his once immaculate robe.

In the CoS wrap-up post, I asked whether there were any fics that dealt realistically with Ginny's experiences. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to find. I don't want to quote from it, because it's short, and full of wonderful surprises that I'd rather not spoil. Beautifully captures how young she is, how a child thinks. Deliciously disturbing!
Feed the authors, or I reckon I'll have to let them monkeys out.
My AIM name is now Pauraque. Shouldn't be too hard to remember. :)

Date: 2004-11-14 08:11 am (UTC)1) I meant when YOU got back...from wherever you were that didn't include being on AIM at my beck and call. I misspeak as much as GWB. :|
2) Why am I always so dumb around you? I am like the Vincent Crabbe of LiveJournal.
3) This event has been, like, the trifecta of stupidity. I can't even begin to explain myself.
