Flist swap report.
Jan. 8th, 2005 10:32 pmI spent a fun-filled day on
rensong's friends list, and discovered the following things:
-It is much easier to keep up with a flist of 50 than 150.
-LOTS of people are doing the flist swap. Was anyone actually reading their own flist today?
-There exists a community called
john_elizabeth, and my first thought was that it was for John Edwards/Elizabeth Edwards shippers, which tells you a little something about how my mind works. In fact, it is for shippers of two characters on Stargate Atlantis. Even though I've never seen a minute of the show, I sampled some of the fic. I liked Ariande's Got a Gun by
taylorkate, despite not really knowing what was going on in it. (I was privately amused by what passes for "slightly porny" in that fandom.)
-An old kids' show called "Rainbow" recorded an innuendo-laden sketch for their friends' entertainment, and there was some confusion over whether it had actually aired. (It hadn't, but it's still funny.)
-
zeedoubleu met some dancing ducks.
-Wayne Brady was on... er, Stargate? the non-Atlantis one? Also in this episode, someone named Harry was either wearing a codpiece, or had a hamster in his pants. (Why not both?)
-There exists
astronomy. Whee!
-There exists an anime series called Ebichu, which apparently chronicles the exploits of a housecleaning hamster. (
rensong's friends are clearly hamster fans.) There's a warning for sex and violence, but there is no "tentacle porn or anything". (Imagine my disappointment! *cuddles Otto*)
-
lostnyanko posted a very cruel meme. Eep!
-There was some sort of icon battle, which was amusing enough to look at on its own. When I realized that the fandom involved was "the Prince of Tennis musical", it became funnier by several factors.
Overall, I had a good time! Interesting to poke around in foreign fandoms, observing the _structure_ of fic and analysis without being familiar with the content.

The balls and twangers thing is legendary! I am reminded it exists at least once a year by a kindly Fish who always forgets he has told me about it already. -_-
...icon battle? I didn't know such things existed. I do know of this "Prince of Tennis" however! Sometimes it has a special and takes over the time slot from Naruto >:O. And sometimes Naruto has a special and takes over the time slot for Prince of Tennis! Take that PoT, aha, aha!
