For plot-related reasons, I'm sure.
Jun. 6th, 2005 11:52 pmFirst. I call your attention to my new icon.
alejandradd made it from this delicious crax. All hail.
Second. After the birthday discussion,
tourniquette99 put up a poll on astrology in HP.
Third. Last night I re-read
amanuensis1's A Spell To Turn Tigers To Butter (NC-17), and afterwards had a dream related to it. Lucius was there. Amy was too! Not entirely sure of the details.
Fourth. I'm starting to re-read OotP -- just a quick go-over so that it's fresh in my mind for July -- and it strikes me how talky the first few chapters are. So much dialogue, both exposition and cutesy character establishment. There are things I love about the beginning of this book -- the exchanges between Harry and Dudley, the whole world-collision sequence with the Dursleys -- but it does take its time getting to the part where things actually happen. I still don't like Tonks: Too cute, too little to do. Lupin, though? Love him in this book. His entrance made me feel all fuzzy.
Fifth. I've finally caught up on Lost. I powered through the last two eps of the season tonight, which made three straight hours of TV, but once I started I couldn't stop. *woozy* When I was a kid, I could watch TV all day, but those days are ooooover. Hurley is my hero.
That is all.

Date: 2005-06-07 02:48 pm (UTC)I remember even the first time in OotP feeling it was taking an awfully long time to just get to school, what with all the cleaning and all. I just found Tonks' intro awkward too, like something out of a sitcom pilot to show you who this person is.

Date: 2005-06-11 05:44 am (UTC)Tonks is continuing to annoy me as I read on... She has quite a lot of dialogue, mostly unnecessary. There are so many important characters in play already -- the kids, Sirius, Remus, Arthur, Molly -- that it just feels like Tonks is taking up "screen time".
