Oh, for heaven's sake. My extra userpics expired a couple weeks back, and I decided there were better things to spend my money on than having more little pictures, so I made the heartbreaking cuts required to get down to only 15 icons. Then, of course, paid users get more userpics again, and now I'm back up to 42 slots. My sacrifice is meaningless!

Puh. Is it my imagination, or is there not a lot of good fic being written lately? Like, I'll click on recs or newsletter links, and whatever it is is readable, but it starts off with exposition, or it uses a bunch of silly epithets, or the author just doesn't seem to have read any fic about these characters before. Yeah, I know new people come to fandom all the time, but that's not a good excuse for writing the characters in a facile, obvious way.
