~achievement~
Oct. 28th, 2008 12:12 pmSo in the latest patch to WoW they added a new thing called Achievements. Basically you get an extensive list of things you can Achieve, ranging from challenging (slay a mighty dragon) to tedious (explore every area of the map) to banal (get a haircut). When you Achieve them, you get a congratulatory sound and message telling you and everyone around you that you have Achieved something. They're kinda like quests except you get to look at the whole list and see how many you have done, as well as how many you have left to do. And you get points. The game shows you how many points you have.
What do you do with the points? I asked.
Nothing! Supposedly there will be something you can do with them eventually, but it isn't implemented yet. All you can do right now is feel warm and fuzzy that you did everything on the list. And EVERYONE IS DOING IT.
This right here is why Blizzard has a zillion dollars.

Um, also I signed up for Nano. It's my first time. This will kind of suck because November is very busy for me at work, and because in the middle of November the WoW expansion will happen and I will suddenly be very busy at home too.
I'm fairly confident that I can do it, though, because while I have an idea of what I want to write (don't get excited, it's not fanfic), I'm committed to the strategy of writing absolutely any crap that pops into my head if I get stuck.
I'm pretty sure there's an Achievement for it.
