Interestingly, I was playing with the same person when I turned 60 and 70 as well, quite by coincidence. We've been friends for a long time, but we rarely play together just the two of us.
Having played the level-up part of this expansion, I can say I think it's very nice. The quests are more story-oriented and expansive than before. They seem to lead more naturally into other areas and events, rather than just... show up, kill ten bears, move on to something unrelated. I found myself wanting to read the text of the story quests rather than click past it. It's probably hard to get a good balance of simple kill-ten-bears quests and those that ask you to do something unusual or unexpected.
Some of the new mechanics were possibly overused, like vehicles... ride a dragon, ride a giant, ride a different giant, ride a titan, ride a mammoth, ride a tank, OKAY! I get it, the game has siege vehicles now. Sometimes it was fun, other times the vehicle was hard to maneuver/target and it became annoying.
The higher level outdoor zones are beautiful and interesting, as opposed to the higher level zones in the last two, which were ugly and frustrating to get around in, and made me want to stab myself. (I know, let's make an all-gray zone with no roads, full of charging sand worms that dismount you. It will be FUN!)
Anyway it's got a good beat and you can dance to it. Hopefully the endgame will also be good.
And now to finish Nano. Boy am I behind.

Date: 2008-11-23 08:04 pm (UTC)I never noticed the building I was in had that skull pattern on the floor until I looked at it in the context of this very boring screenshot. I should have arranged to level up in a more scenic location.
