As previously reported, I finally applied to have the gender changed on my ID. Thus:

At the moment this picture was taken, a small child ducked under the velvet rope and ran in front of me, thus eluding its parent who was chasing it. Also, was there like a fan blowing from my right or does my hair really look like that? Damn.

Um otherwise yeah, the important part. They got that right. The great state of California knows I'm a boy now.

Relatedly, when I went with my friend to see Star Trek, I insisted that I would pay for both of us, because he was paying for gas and I wanted to be nice, but then I realized I had no cash and the cashier wanted to see ID for a card... and I had no valid ID. All I had was a receipt from the DMV, and he was like lolno. So then my friend had to pay for both of us, and I felt like a tool. >_<

Congratulations!

My first thought was about the fan directed at the hair, even before I read on and saw your comment on same. :-)

Well, at least it looks recognizably like me, which my old ID didn't really.

Yes, the whole moving thing has set me on a course of unprecedented productiveness! It's going to be July 28.

You should see what my hair is doing in my license next time we are together. It's not a bad picture...just, my hair is doing this very weird curl to the side thing that it's never done at any other time...and there was no fan.

PS it is against the credit card companies' merchant agreements to require ID. But I guess it's a pain to fight the man.

I think I read somewhere all California licenses must have the person appear to be at the edge of a windswept cliffe.

Awesome congrats!

Wow 165? It must be all muscle! :D

I don't actually know how much I weigh (when they weigh me at the doctor, I don't look). I copied 165 off my old ID, which I think was made up in the first place. I have issues with considering weight a defining characteristic, since it's extremely hard to accurately know a person's weight by looking at them, and not least of all because our culture is unhealthily obsessed with weight and it irks me. So putting a weight that is made up and probably wrong made me feel better!

That's awesome and I agree completely of course.

I must have a lot of bone density or something, people always guess my weight about 20 lbs lower than it is. Either that or they are just "being nice" (I don't really care about the number though.) Or, perhaps it is that I dress fabulous. :D

I find all those identifying characteristics to be kind of bullshit.

Last time I went to get my driver's license renewed, the lady behind the desk questioned me on both my stated weight AND hair color from my former license, with one of those "don't you want to change this?" tones.

At that point, I was probably within 2 pounds of my stated weight, and my hair was the same color it always is. I at least got out of her that she thought that my hair color should be listed as red (I'm strawberry blond and generally go with blond because I have true red-heads in my family and I'm definitely not a red-head by their standards). But it was like: really?

Yeah, since there's a picture, in theory it shouldn't be necessary, right? And the fact that she actually questioned it... ugh.

Yay! *bounce* Congrats! :)

Sitting for ID pictures always feels weird, but I'd say that's a very nice photo as far as this sort of thing goes (and I'd never have guessed about the child and the parent chasing it if you hadn't said. *g*)
