Hurray for a weekend visit to NYC and seeing people I hadn't in a long time, and meeting new ones!
idlerat awesomely let us crash at her place, which made us happy.
We went to the Met where they're having an exhibit I really enjoyed of artifacts from Afghanistan's history. I didn't know anything about the region going in, but they made it clear what we were looking at and how it represented the changing eras, cultures, influences, and such. It is not boring; I was pretty riveted even though we were really tired and footsore when we were there.
We saw an extremely large hornet-or-something in Central Park. Excitement ensued! Background: I am not afraid of stinging bugs, I think bees are pretty, and I am used to Hannelore exaggerating the size and ferocity of bugs that scare her.
Hannelore: THERE IS A GIANT BUG BEHIND YOU
me: *turns to look, rolling eyes*
large hornet-or-something: HELLO I AM GIANT HOW ARE YOU DOING
us: *flee*
LHOS: WAS IT SOMETHING I SAID
