I'm back babeh
Aug. 25th, 2011 12:33 pmThank you guys for your messages of support. I love you. ♥
It was actually pretty easy. I was treated very well at the hospital (from the little I remember) and went back to the hotel the same day. The only real snag was they tried to give me percocet on a completely empty stomach, and that was not a good idea. But as soon as my body got rid of that, I was fine, and have been comfortable ever since. The only awkward thing is being all bandaged up with two drains sticking out of me.
I just have to be very careful because I am held together with stitches even though it doesn't feel like it. I already pulled one out reaching for the TV. I am guessing the basically nonexistent pain means that I won't have a lot of sensation in my chest once everything is healed, but that's okay, I still have lots of other body parts that work, and it's more about the appearance anyway.
I don't know yet what it is going to look like, because it's all covered, and TBH I haven't gone out of my way to peek. I'm sure it will be fine -- one of the hospital nurses commented that the surgeon's work was beautiful -- but I don't think I have quite registered the reality of it yet. I have a pressure vest thing on to promote healing, so I don't feel any different, I'm used to being squeezed half to death. :P
My followup appointment with the surgeon is supposed to be on Monday, but we might have to reschedule if the hurricane comes through. :o The earthquake happened while I was in recovery, but I was way too out of it to notice.
