Well, that was fun. I have to say I didn't have a whole lot invested in the outcome once Jon was out. I'd have been annoyed if Lill had won; she really didn't deserve it, having been voted out once, and I didn't like her overconfidence that her niceness would win it -- I felt like she came to tribal council thinking she had it all sewn up. But on the other hand, I didn't have any particular love for Sandra either. She's an ice-cold bitch and she played a good game, and I rather admire her for both those qualities, but... I wasn't holding my breath when the votes were read. This was a great season, but the midgame was much more exciting than the endgame.

Poor ol' Jon -- he was genuinely upset at having lost, wasn't he! As well he might be... I always said, after all of this, he damn well better win the thing. He only made one mistake -- the emotional connection with Burton -- and it cost him the game. I'd still have voted for him over Lill in a second.

So howzabout the All Star game? Do we know who's committed to it? Might it be an advantage/disadvantage for anyone competing from the most recent season, since they just got through with their first round?

Switchknife's Slash Recommendations updates today with 45 new HP slash stories, many pairings, lots of tasty treats. And I'm quite honored to find that "Force of Habit" and "Left to the Imagination" are both on the list. I know this is very undignified of me, but -- *glee*!

[livejournal.com profile] switchknife also has a rant on people who send feedback to reccers instead of authors. Seriously, guys -- don't do that. Writers want to hear that you like their stuff, and if they don't hear from you, they'll assume you don't. Reccers do their thing because they want to promote the author, and if they don't get notes complimenting their good taste, odds are they don't care -- they already read the good fic, they already got theirs! When authors get feedback, they notice and care, believe me. It makes their day. (It also encourages them to write more, which is what we all want, right?)

In meta news, [livejournal.com profile] switchknife ships me/[livejournal.com profile] isiscolo here. Our love is so Peter-centric. If anyone, I really ought to be paired with [livejournal.com profile] maidenjedi, since she and I actually are writing a fic together. But maybe canon ships are too boring. ;)

And [livejournal.com profile] darkkitten1 ships my polar bear icon with [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth's here. To which I can only say:

And now that I've indulged my ego, sleep.

My computer keeps dying on me, or I'd have tried to catch you on AIM. But, canon 'ship, hehehe! :-)

I'll fix this wiggy machine and talk with you soon.

pauraque/maidenjedi sitting in a tree. W-R-I-T-I-N-G. Doesn't quite work does it? In any case, that's one fic I look forward to reading.

I am indeed talking about XFVCU, but this is an episode you haven't read yet. Ooh, was that a spoiler? *eg*

And thanks. :)

Writers want to hear that you like their stuff, and if they don't hear from you, they'll assume you don't.

May I add that unless you feed, a writer has no way of knowing that anyone even *found* their story, much less liked it.

See now, I was very fond of Sandra all the way through; she was a great "enemy"/TV foil for Jon, and I adored all her annoyed camera asides. She did totally luck out in Lill picking her instead of Jon, but that's because Lill is an over-emotional idiot. However, Sandra was by FAR a better player than Lill, and I'm glad she won.

And it amuses me SO MUCH that Jon's boy-crush on Burton lost him the game, especially when he ranted and raved about how dumb and emotional the women were and how he and Burton were so much better than that. It's just the tastiest bit of irony I've had in a long, long time. ;-)

I know! Sooooo funny! It was almost like hearing a pseudo-elitist slasher talk sometimes, wasn't it? "Our purely masculine relationship exists on a higher plane than those lowly females with their icky girl parts."

Ah, poor closeted Jon. *patpat*

I would have intelligent thoughts on the reccing thing if it weren't half past three in the morning and I hadn't just spent the last four hours going through my friendslist, so you'll have to be satisfied with babble about my weekly fanfiction posts, which is sad because there's too much of that as is. (even so, I think I owe Slytherlinx one.)

I don't expect much feedback on my weekly fanfic posts, because I haven't recieved much from the beginning; still, as a poster on LJ, I appreciate feedback. I always check on the reviews of the stories I've listed, especially the ones I recommend; even if no one replied to my post, it's nice to see a couple of people who followed my recomendation, read the story, and enjoyed it. As a reccer, I do care if someone trusts my tastes, whether it's because they already love the story I recommended, or whether they like me enough and find my rec interesting enough to read; and since I feel let down if I followed the rec of someone I trust and I find I hate the story, and I feel I can't trust that person so much as a reccer anymore, I love it when people say they like the stories I rec, which is why I go through the review and reply threads to the stories I rec.

But it's true that there's a lot less feedback going on than I wish there was. I can't say I'm not guilty of a little apathy myself; often, I don't review a fic until I list it on Wednesday night, and now that I don't list all of the fics anymore, there are a lot of fics that I read and say, "That was utterly unredeeming," and forget about. I don't think I review more than about two-thirds of the fics I read at this point, which I think is still pretty good; I'd rather read more and leave it unreviewed than read less and give a great review on everything.

(I was going to just say, "I would say "w0rd" if I were qualified" to Switchknife, but I'm lazy. Meh.)

I guess I was guilty of generalization there -- when I rec something, of course it's nice if people agree with my taste, but that's beside the point for me. I'm sure it matters more to people who are more committed to reccing.
