pauraque_bkAs it's Veterans' Day (or Remembrance Day), I thought this post from the Democratic Underground forum might be of interest.
The jist is that wounded American soldiers recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington have to pay for their own long distance, and many of them can't afford to do so. Donations of pre-paid phone cards will help, especially with the holiday season coming up.

Whether one agrees with the war or not, whether one blames the President for this situation or not, I would hope we can all agree that these people deserve to be able to talk to their families.
On a completely different note, TLC reports that Steve Kloves will not be writing the script for OotP. I've never been a fan of his adaptations, so this was excellent news for me, topped off by the fact that his replacement is Michael Goldenberg, who did a Peter Pan adaptation I did like. My expectations for the OotP movie have dramatically improved!
