Don't miss [livejournal.com profile] fluffyllama's latest Theatrical Muse ficlet (genfic, PG-ish). This Peter is ruthless, self-serving, scary, and just a tiny bit comic, in a macabre sort of way -- in other words, *canon*.

([livejournal.com profile] kristenk2, does that give you any idea? *g*)

Gacked from... oh, just about everybody, most recently [livejournal.com profile] pogrebin:

Where and when did you first hear of my name/see my work/'meet' me? With what people/series/groups etc. do you associate me and my writing? This is not a praise or feedback meme, this is just to track the path of my online presence and to see the connections involved, to find out how people link together.

And, like [livejournal.com profile] pogrebin, I'll tell you how I first heard of you, too.

First saw you in Snapesupport. Friended you, you friended back. I associate you with the rest of the Snapesupport crowd. Also think of you whenever I think of Peter :-). I don't associate your writing with any other, it's pretty distinctive. At least what I have read so far.

I first saw you in [livejournal.com profile] snapesupport too; since then we've chatted in #snapesupport and I've gotten to know you a bit better. I associate you with Snape/Lupin due to your fic, and also somewhat with the other people I know who live in your area of the world. (Actually, I met you and [livejournal.com profile] dancing_moon at around the same time, and for a while I kept forgetting which one of you was Greek and which was Swedish. I know now, of course, but I associate the two of you with each other to some extent because of that.)

I'm pretty sure I first saw you on one of those MarySue communities- deleterius, maybe. I noticed you had a Peter icon, and being a Peter fan myself, I decided to check out your journal; I was pleasantly surprised to find that it contained lots of intelligent HP discussion, something I had been looking for, yet had not much success in finding up to that point.

I also associate you with Peter-porn. And other types of fan-fiction about Wormtail that you manage to work beautifully with what we know about him from canon. And fan-fiction sex scenes that actually seem real. And snapesupport. And probably some other things that I've forgotten.

Yeah, I used to hang around [livejournal.com profile] pottersues; I might have seen you there. I first got to know you on Snapesupport. I don't know what the topic was, but I noticed your Christina Aguliera!Snape icon, and loved it.

When I think of you, I think of your art, which is completely unlike anyone else's, and also of smart, honest sex discussion.

First heard your name/saw your work on the Harem. You posted "Void Sale" and I sent feedback, which is, I suppose, how we first met. Then we had the "what do we call a male Wife" Harem discussion and you became our Boy. I remember Bardsmaid and I talked about your writing in private email (in very admiring terms, needless to say) and she told me she was doing beta on a piece of yours she was very excited about, so I think I associate you with her to some extent, too. That story turned out to be "Oil," which you and I then had a feedback exchange about, but I think it was only when you came to LJ that I got to know you as a friend rather than a casual fandom aquaintance.

I associate you and your work with:

--psychologically motivated stories, definitely mytharc in X-Files fic.

--X-files: the characters of Krycek and Marita, also Jeffrey and Diana.

--HP: Peter, of course. But also Snape, because of your artwork of him.

--communities: Harem and LJ, to a lesser extent RATales.

Was this what you had in mind? More than you had in mind? *g* Just ask me if you have any questions.

What she said. Except the part about the private email exchange with Bardsmaid; I learned about "Oil" when you posted it. *g*

kristenk2, does that give you any idea? *g*

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks! Heh, I think you're right, Peter does probably fall somewhere between Krycek and Spender.

But I liked the alliteration of Peter Pettigrew = Pendrell. *g*

Ooh, but there's alliteration in Krycek, too. Alex Krycek, three 'k' sounds.

Peter Pettigrew and Alex Krycek. It does kind of fit, two alliterative manipulative bad boys. *g* (I can't help thinking of your Peter-Krycek crossover story, now, Eo! There was a kindred spirit thing happening there!)

I'm not sure about Jeffrey, though (or only in terms of being hated by readers/viewers) --he is a total sweetheart compared to Peter and Alex. :)

For real! You could say that Peter plays the part of Krycek in the HP storyline, but HP fans *treat* him like XF fans treat Jeffrey.

Peter, of course, lacks the advantage of being as irresistably attractive as Nicholas Lea. *g*

Yeah, fandom is shallow that way. *g*

Beyond good looks or not, though, I also think the difference in popularity has got a lot to do with Peter's timidity and nervousness vs. Krycek's calm and physical courage. In that respect, too, one fits in perfectly with our ideals of masculinity while the other just doesn't. I remember reading the statement somewhere that "Krycek is the villain but Nicholas Lea plays him as though he were the hero." That goes a long way toward explaining his popularity imo, and (correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't know HP canon to anywhere the same extent as X-Files) I have the impression so far that the descriptions of Peter forbids any such interpretation of the character. (Then again, simple physical attractiveness does have quite a bit to do with what we immediately perceive as heroic, of course.)

I first met you at the Harem, so of course I associate you with Kim fic, and minor character lurve in general. :)

But I liked the alliteration of Peter Pettigrew = Pendrell. *g*

Hee. There are no fewer than four HP characters (that people write fic about) who have the initials "PP". Occasional confusion does ensue. :)

I don't think I ever read your work before I came to the Harem; I'm sure I would have remembered it! More than anything else, I associate you with carefully crafted, lyrical, amazingly good writing. Also, of course, Krycek/Marita and the Harem in general. I also vaguely connect you with the people I know who are or have been in both XF and HP fandom.

First found you via a reply to something on [livejournal.com profile] lizbee's LJ. I liked you name and decided to have a look - and then I was hooked!
Associate you with Snape, Snapesupport, language ( yep, all of it! ), museums and sketching and other things I don't understand but they're interesting to read anyway ( Krycek for example ), dragons and ring-tailed lemurs AND answers to my stupid questions - thank you
Also associate you entirely with California! Must be something you said somewhere. Previously I just thought of wine.

I think I might have seen you on [livejournal.com profile] lizbee's LJ before you friended me. In any case, I associate you with [livejournal.com profile] lizbee &co, French, Snapesupport, and, to some degree, the other people I know who live in your part of the world. I didn't really realize this before now, but I do associate people who live in the same region with each other, even if I know them in different "places" online.

Also associate you entirely with California! Must be something you said somewhere. Previously I just thought of wine.

Heh! Well, I'm a pretty good example of a Californian, and I'm quite proud to be one, so that makes sense. :)

Loved that fic.

And in answer to the question, your comments on Mariagoner's journals entertained me, so I checked out your journal and decided to friend you. Apparently that's rude or something? I dunno. Never one for formalities.

I hope you commented and told her so. :)

Of course, I met you through [livejournal.com profile] mariagoner and associate you with her. I don't think it's rude to friend people randomly, though. At least, I wasn't offended.

I don't at all remember how I got to your LJ (yay for link-clicking sprees). I associate you with an X-Files group that I do not really know about, and Snape fans, and Peter fans. And I guess you are in that category...I don't know how to define it...that includes people like switchknife and mctabby and all varieties of disturbing porn? :) But really I think you have your own little thing going on, with branches into various fandoms, and other things you post about (like the chart of shipping relationships, or the personality-relating-to-House poll, or the conlangs), which always have different groups to come and comment on them.
