-Sirius is a sociopath.
[livejournal.com profile] accioslash argues for.
[livejournal.com profile] schmevil argues against.

-Remus's behavior is morally acceptable.
[livejournal.com profile] jeddy83 argues for.
[livejournal.com profile] dphearson argues against.

As an aside, [livejournal.com profile] dovielr notes: "Snape is good without being nice, and Lupin is nice without being good."

Once again proving that there is more to fandom than boys getting it on.

Well, a little bit more.

Aaack! Heresy! :p

Methinks you overestimate me.  That is exactly why I like to write Snape and Lupin getting it on.  ;-)

Shh. There are mundanes on my friends list I'm trying to lure into fandom. See, first you hook them with the intelligent analysis, *then* you hit them with the pervy manlove. ;)

Heh, it's okay, I was mostly kidding. They already know about the pervy manlove. They do follow my LJ, so it's a bit hard to miss it. *g*

Isn't it supposed to work the other way? Lure them in with the pervy man-love, and then sneak in the intelligent literary character analysis once they're hooked?

I mean, really, I'm sure I would have enjoyed several 200-level literature courses a LOT more if they'd used pervy man-love for bait...

*ahem* I suppose this explains why I never finished a bachelor's degree. *g*

Does it make me look like a nerd to say I was drawn in by the intelligent discussion and later lured to the pervy manlove?

Yeah. But I've been overanalyzing fandoms for years, so that makes sense. HP was the first fandom where the pull of the pervy manlove was simply too strong for me to resist.

Me too, to a certain extent. I read smut in most of my previous fandoms, but didn't feel called upon to write it until HP. I think it was peer pressure more than anything else. :)

I'm a nerd too; I really find the analysis more satisfying than the porn. My favorite stories are those that conduct covert analysis in the course of the smut, which gives the best of both worlds.

I've been over-analyzing in the Sherlock Holmes fandom for a while now, but I'd never thought of pervy man love before I quite innocently clicked on a fic featuring Snape and Lupin on Fanfiction.net with something called "slash" mentioned in the summary.  To quote [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo, it blew.  My.  Mind!  And that fic didn't even have smut!  O.O  But I was totally hooked.  I read every other fic by that author and every other slash fic I could find on FF.net that night, and I started working my first slash fic the very next day.

Of course, one day I will put up a post that says "They all need a good kick in the pants!"

Yum. Pervy Love. Hmmm, perve.

[livejournal.com profile] scribbulus_ink argues against Sociopath!Sirius, also. I haven't read [livejournal.com profile] schmevil's yet, but [livejournal.com profile] scribbulus_ink's argument is persuasive not only because she makes good points, but because Sirius isn't one of her favorite characters to begin with.

And I'd figured that out about Snape being "good without being nice", but I hadn't thought much about the very true statement that Lupin can be "nice without being good". Fascinating.

Yes, I saw that just after I posted, but [livejournal.com profile] scribbulus_ink didn't read [livejournal.com profile] accioslash's original post. [livejournal.com profile] schmevil did, and addresses specific points made.
