Answers from the interview meme.

What is your favorite food?

Too many to choose from! I love food. I love to cook, and I love to eat. I have a particular affinity for pitted fruits (nectarines, avocados, plums). A barely underripe red plum, firm and wet and not too sweet, sliced over cold yogurt. *swoon*

Who is your favourite King of England - and which one would you sleep with ?

I like John Lackland, the wretched little creature. And I'm strangely attracted to Richard III. Mm, crazy freak...

Yeah, there's something wrong with me.

What got you into conlanging/conscripts? Do you have a background in linguistics?

I've been fascinated with languages and writing systems... from birth. Anytime there was a puzzle or a book or a movie that involved a cipher or a code or an alien language, I was all over it. I've been conlanging/conscripting since elementary school.

I've never taken a linguistics class, though I do have quite a collection of linguistics books and textbooks for my personal enjoyment.

Can you go to the shop and get me a pizza please

Yes, I can, but the cheese would be all congealed by the time I got to your house.

What kind of clothes do you favour?

Geeky/grungy would probably sum it up.

I'm very ashamed of not knowing this, so I have to ask: what the meaning/origins of your pen-name "pauraque"?

The first thing I wrote in HP was something about nightjar birds. A pauraque is an American nightjar. So, basically, it means I'm an American HP writer.

This is a pauraque.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Other than older, that is.

A fabulously successful novelist. My books will have a huge fandom following. There will be great quantities of slash, which I will pretend not to read.

Failling that, I'd like to go back to working with animals.

Pick five words to describe yourself.

I dreamed that Harry and Ron and Snape and a bunch of other people in Slytherin robes were crawling through secret tunnels with sliding doors, and they came out into an endless Mayan temple with yelloworange sunlight. Voldemort was there and laughing that they didn't know where to go, and Harry cut off Ron's hand with the burning tip of his wand and ran up to the dark entrance at the top of the steps, and wished his parents were alive.

And he came out and they were alive, and he was invisible. He was led around by a spirit like Clarence or Christmas Past, and he saw Peter and Sirius living together in a little house. Sirius walked with a cane, lines cut in his burnt leg like with strings, eyes dark. Peter worked at a boring job that didn't pay enough, and came home and said dull, quiet things to Sirius and stroked his hair. Sirius leaned against him.

They sat down to watch a movie on TV, Peter sunk into the armchair and Sirius on one end of the couch. Harry laid down next to Sirius and tried to touch him, but his hand just went right through.

Of course, it would be better if my dream self knew that wizards don't watch TV. But that could be worked around.

I'd like to see this as a drabble:

A lot.

Sometimes it seems that my subconscious is a better writer than me.

you are so hot. *loves on yooooouuuuu*

Man. I'm back home, and I'm busy, and my hp obsession is petering out into the straggling remains of WIPs and compulsive porn and trashy entertainment-value-only shiz...... Which isn't bad, but is rather, in fact, the natural course of things..... However, I miss this fandom already. ;_; Let's never not be friends.

of course you like John Lackland. He and Peter Pettigrew are cut from the same cloth, aren't they? And Richard III and our Potions Master are not entirely unlike.

"Henry... I don't much like our children."

Have you read any Sharon Kay Penman? She's written both pro-Richard and pro-John historical novels, and they're all great reads.
