For those of you who don't know, JKR's got a new interview where she gives some fairly specific answers to fan questions of varying relevance (and possible Book 6 spoilers, so click with care). On the non-giving-things-away front, I really appreciated this:
"I am normally like this when I write a book. Usually when I am just over halfway I normally love it, but by the time I finish it I completely despise it and think it is worthless rubbish."
Heh, I can certainly relate.
Aside from that, I just want to point out one thing: JKR did not say that Harry will "survive Book 7", as briefly reported on HPANA (they seem to have fixed it now). What she said was that Harry will survive to Book 7, which I think you'll agree is not the same.

The
pornish_pixies Fantasy Fest seems to be going along swimmingly. Probably my favorite entry so far is
mousapelli's 'Just Following Orders' [NC-17, Remus/Harry/Neville], a deadpan slash satire, equal parts smutty and sardonic. I wouldn't want to give away the best lines, but there are some big laughs here.
The writing of my own entry is going incredibly slowly, but at least it's going. When you spend half an hour on two sentences, you know you've had better days.
Also, I think I may have gone mad, because I signed up for
merry_smutmas. Luck, be a lady tonight.....

Date: 2004-08-15 09:16 pm (UTC)I love the first comment. Finally, a cool head! *snuggles you*
I've never yet feared for Harry's life. I'm more the person who takes for granted that the main character will be in it until the last book. I'm fear for everyone else. I keep thinking "okay. . . Sirius is gone, who's gonna bite the dust next?"
I'm just paranoid that way. ^^;;

Date: 2004-08-15 09:27 pm (UTC)In my opinion, Remus, Dumbledore, and any of the Weasleys besides Ron are possible candidates for a book-six demise. I don't think Snape, Peter, or the Trio are on the chopping block until Book 7, but we'll see.

Date: 2004-08-15 09:35 pm (UTC)I also think it's going to be Ron or Hermione, or Ron and Hermione, against the Malfoys in book 7. *grins* That's been building for sometime I think.
I honestly think that Snape is going to survive the whole thing. I'm probably dead wrong, but one can hope.

I really, really hope you're right. I fear for Snape FAR more than I fear for Harry. I even had this horrible dream where she killed him off. I rolled my eyes at the Sirius fans for going into denial when he died, but I'm starting to think my brain would shut down too, were we to lose Snape. It's scary, damn it. :-(

Date: 2004-08-15 09:23 pm (UTC)Heh :-) Thank you!! I glossed over JKR's one rather condescending comment in the interview to get to the giving-things-away bits, so I was somewhat taken aback at all the reactions I've been reading on LJ ever since.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought she was being rather tongue-in-cheek with a lot of her comments; just like her bit about how people shouldn't call Voldemort "Voldie".
