Spider-Man recs?
Aug. 31st, 2004 01:25 amI rented the first Spider-Man movie today. Alas, I didn't enjoy it as much as the sequel. The first half hour or so was pretty charming, but once they got into the meat of it, there wasn't a lot there. The effects just... didn't have that solidity and believability that was so impressive to me in the sequel. And you know, I like Willem Dafoe, but the Green Goblin is probably one of the most tedious and irritating super villains ever.
Which is a strange way to lead into this, but: If anyone has any Spider-Man recs, hit me. Any genre, so long as it's good. Feel free to pimp yourself... I know some of you have been writing, but damned if I can remember who. It's remarkable how completely you can ignore a fandom until it strikes your fancy.
So, I was at the Mexican grocery waiting for my burrito, idly reading the bilingual signs on the meat counter, in Spanish and English. And one of them said this:
MENUDO / BEEF STOMACHS
...um. Is there something I don't know?
