Google's Blog Search tool is way too scary. I definitely didn't want to know how many people are talking about me. *puts it away*

Now, let's have some recs!

Melting (NC-17, Peter/Lily) by [livejournal.com profile] lunalelle
This was written for what I think was an extremely difficult prompt, but it's like all truly great challenge fics in that the challenge disappears completely while you're reading; there's nothing forced about it. Lily is heavily pregnant, and the sensory depiction of that is captivating. The challenge calls for Peter to be good in bed, and the way that's justified and presented calls for no suspension of disbelief. It's just right. The author doesn't try to make him like James, but lets him be himself, experienced on his own terms, and just what Lily -- at this moment -- craves.

This fic is really good, guys. Highly recommended, even if you're not normally a het reader. Also, the author gave it an NC-17 (maybe for the themes of adultery?) but I'd have called it R.

"Melting" put me in mind of another Peterfic I read recently in a similar style; I wondered if it was the same author, but it turned out not to be. It was this one:

Quando Corpus (R, Regulus/Peter, other slash implied) by [livejournal.com profile] entrecasteaux
Although it is styled very similarly to the first, I found this one more opaque; I wasn't always sure what I was being shown. However, I think it works as an expression of Peter's barely-restrained insanity, a paranoid fever burning just under the surface. He doesn't always understand his own thoughts, and neither does the reader. Certainly worth the read.

Red (Spaces In Between) (PG-13, Remus/Draco) by [livejournal.com profile] hansbekhart
I have a hard time with fics that assume a Harry/Draco background, but the achingly beautiful world of this fic completely overshadowed that issue for me. After the war, Remus and Draco run away to Hong Kong, and the setting is a character in itself, humid and rainy and filled with remembrance.

They live in the bowels of the city, white washed walls and electric fans. The heat makes his bones cry out in remembrance, filling up the spaces between them. Pain leaches from his body as he sweats. He is never sure about the boy, who is silent and stiff even in the hot, wet air of Hong Kong. His skin gleams and loses pallor and turns pink but never looks any healthier. He is a beacon of white against a sea of black hair and dark faces.

Don't forget to feed the authors!
