Modeled after Orlando Bloom, though I tried to shift things into more of a family resemblance than a dead likeness. I don't think I've spent enough time staring at the guy to tell if that came off, but I'm pretty happy with it as a drawing. I was going for realism, and his features are hardly skewed at all -- I usually let face drawings go where they want even if it's not technically correct, but in this case I used a mirror and really worked at the angles.

Btw, I've read a little PotC fic, but not very much, and I don't feel like slogging through archives, so can anyone provide me with some recs? Or a good recs page? Slash, het, gen, whatever; I'm an omnivore.

Hey! He does look sort of like Orlando Bloom, and yet not! Well done!

It's a very compelling sketch, Eo. As soon as you look at him, you can see there's something going inside--thinking or pondering, or maybe something he's looking at. He seems very much alive to me.

Thanks very much!

This is as good a time as any to mention that although I haven't been commenting much, I always look at your pictures of the day, and they're stunning. You have a great talent for finding the life and beauty in any scene, no matter how mundane it might appear.

I'm glad you're enjoying the pics. I'm hoping they add a little something to people's day. I especially enjoy taking pictures of the kind of cool (to me) details that people so often overlook, like yesterday's dead poplar leaves. I don't know exactly why, but I'm quite fond of that picture.

Which reminds me that I haven't yet put up a picture for today. (hurries off to do that)

I think I understand, because it sounds similar to what I try to do in my fiction writing. Spectacular things hardly ever happen in my fic, just ordinary things that I hope to invest with meaning through careful detail.

I love the eyes. It is sooo hard to get expressions right but you've really done this beautifully. Proportions are good too.
(I'm sorry to be such a pleb but I have no idea who Bill Turner is. Quite fanciable actually!)
Mood: envious!

Merci! Bill Turner is the father of Orlando Bloom's character in Pirates of the Caribbean. You never see him in the movie; this is just what I imagine him to look like.
