Bush and Blair have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
switchknife pointed out a petition you can sign opposing the nomination.

My friends list crossed the line of what I can comfortably handle a few friendings back, so I'm going to whittle my list down somewhat over the next few days. If I drop you, it isn't personal. By the same token, if you've been wanting to drop me for whatever reason, please feel free; I won't get upset. I'd far rather be dropped than filtered out.
In an attempt to make things more manageable, I've divided my list into four reading filters: HP, XF, conlangers, and misc. Of course, there's bound to be overlap, but I've tried to put each person on just one reading filter. To be clear, I'm not filtering anyone off my fpage entirely, just grouping journals with similar subject matter together for convenience's sake. If you're curious, you can check which reading filter you're on here.
At present, the breakdown is 64% HP, 15% XF, 6% conlangers, and 15% other.

Date: 2004-02-03 06:45 am (UTC)I'll bear that in mind if I decide I'm not reading most of your entries. I haven't had you on for long enough yet to tell.

Date: 2004-02-03 12:51 pm (UTC)I think I intended to read mostly any conlang-related stuff you might post, since that's something I tend to be interested in.
It's perfectly possible to like someone (or at least have nothing against them) but not be interested in the stuff on their LJ.
Definitely.
Friendings and defriendings generally shouldn't be taken personally, I think.
I think you're right, but this is often not the case.
I know I've wondered at least once why person X defriended me.
This is another reason I'd like to have separate "watch" and "trust" lists; this would have given me slightly more input on whether she simply didn't feel interested in what I had to say (or wanted to prune their watch-page), or whether she didn't want me to read her entries any more, or both.
It would also let me remove people from my watch-list while keeping them on my trust-list if, as you say, I "like someone but am not interested in the stuff on their LJ".
Re:
Date: 2004-02-03 01:21 pm (UTC)Another feature LJ would have in a perfect world would be reader-end filtering. In other words, a labeling system to allow you to see only my conlang posts and none of my fandom posts. Of course, one can keep separate LJs for different subjects, but that's too much trouble for me to go to when there's so much overlap -- a lot of fandom people turned out to enjoy the conlang stuff, and vice versa.
My friends list is certainly a diverse group these days -- different fandoms, conlangers, real life friends -- so I figure no one person is interested in all the things I post about. And when you've got a lot of people whose journals you follow, the skimming can get to be too much.
